DUTCH Hormone Testing
Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones.
You've had your hormones tested before — a blood panel, maybe a single cortisol reading — and it came back "within range." But you still feel it: the mood swings that don't line up with anything you can point to, the exhaustion that hits mid-afternoon, the cycle that's become unpredictable, the sense that your body is running on a different rhythm than it used to.
Standard bloodwork gives you a single snapshot. It doesn't show you the full pattern. That's where DUTCH testing comes in.
Who Would Benefit From DUTCH Testing?
DUTCH testing tends to be most useful for women who recognize themselves in more than one of these experiences:
Energy that crashes hard in the afternoon, or a "tired but wired" feeling at night
Cycles that have become irregular, heavier, more painful, or harder to predict
Mood shifts that feel tied to a specific point in your cycle
Sleep that doesn't feel restorative even when you're getting enough hours
A stressful season of life (new job, new baby, caregiving, business building) that hasn't let up in months
Symptoms that show up more in perimenopause — hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption — that you want more clarity on
A general sense of running on empty, despite blood work that keeps coming back "normal"
An interest in understanding your hormone and stress patterns before starting another supplement or trying to push through on willpower alone
What Is DUTCH Testing?
DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. It's an at-home hormone test that measures not just how much of a hormone you have, but how your body is producing, using, and clearing it — including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and your cortisol pattern across the full day.
Where a blood draw captures one moment in time, DUTCH testing maps your cortisol rhythm from morning to night, giving insight into how your stress response is actually functioning — not just whether cortisol is "high" or "low" in isolation. It also looks at hormone metabolites, which show how your body is breaking down and clearing hormones like estrogen, an important piece for women dealing with mood, cycle, or energy symptoms that blood tests alone don't explain.
For high-achieving women running on empty, this test often connects dots that years of "normal" labs never did.
How Is DUTCH Testing Performed?
DUTCH testing is done entirely at home — no needles, no clinic visit, no fasting required.
Here's what the process looks like when you work with us at Fig & Field Wellness:
Initial consult. We review your cycle history, symptoms, and current life stage (cycling, perimenopause, postpartum, etc.) to determine whether DUTCH testing is the right fit and which specific panel makes sense for you.
Kit delivery. Your test kit is shipped directly to your door with detailed collection instructions.
At-home collection. You collect several dried urine samples at set points across one full day, following the kit's timing instructions. If you have a cycle, timing is coordinated to a specific point in your cycle for accuracy.
Lab processing. Samples are mailed to the lab, where your hormone and metabolite levels are measured and your full-day cortisol pattern is mapped.
Results review. Once results are in (typically within 2–3 weeks), we schedule a dedicated session to walk through your report and connect it back to your actual symptoms and timeline.
Personalized protocol. From there, we build a targeted supplement and lifestyle protocol based on your specific pattern, with follow-up support as your body responds.
